Back in Birmingham

Well, we have made our way back to B'ham. We are parked in Parke and Jeff's driveway for now. It's what we call boy world. There are 11 to be exact, under the age of 9. Our boys are in heaven being here and playing with their friends all day. I think we're going to be here for another week and then we'll head up to Kentucky for christmas, and then down to S. Georgia after christmas to see my family, and then back up to north Georgia to spend a week with the stalcups and Armisteads, and then who knows??? We could end up in anyone's back yard. I'll post some pictures of boy world soon.

Socorro balloon rally

Last night we went to the socorro candy cane parade. It was chilly to say the least, but lots of fun. The best part was that the hot air balloons had their baskets on the back of trucks or trailers, and would make a blaze. the boys, and I thought it was really cool.

We woke the boys up again for the second day in a row at 5:30 to go to the balloon rally. It was a brisk 11 degrees out. It was beautiful. I know to people around here it wasn't much of a rally, but we sure liked it. Here are some pictures of some of our favorite balloons. We have just entered Texas and are going to stay in Amarillo tonight.

Today we have driven through Hereford, the beef capitol of the world. there are cows for as far as you can see. I sure could go for a steak right now. We also went through Lincoln, NM where Billy the kid has his last fight. and we went through Roswell, NM where apparently the aliens landed in the 50's. So, we should be in be in Amarillo by morning, up from san anton. Flint is screaming, barrett and Peter are doing who knows what, and Luke is fast asleep. I'm hoping that we get there soon.

Black friday !!!1

well, Flint and I are alot like the postman, how you ask?? neither rain nor sleet nor wind nor snow can keep from some good black friday shopping. I figured Flint wakes up every morning at an ungodly hour at least we'd have something to do. So he and I headed to downtown Albuquerque along with the other million people and hit the stores. He was a great little shopper. And the truck did have a nice coat of snow on it when we got out of the store.
We're now in Socorro, NM. We drove down yesterday, it's' about 2 hours S. of Albuquerque. There was supposed to be a balloon rally (hot air, not latex) this morning. So, we woke all the boys up around 5:30, except Flint who was already up of course. bundled them up since it was in the 20's outside, and drove to the field to see all the beautiful balloons, except when we got there, there weren't any. Apparently they don't go up when it's windy and sleeting, go figure! So, we've spent the day at yet another walmart parking lot. there's a parade here tonight, and then they are supposed to have the balloon rally tom. morning. Hopefully i'll have some great pictures of hot air balloons to share tomorow.
The boys, one very big in particular have spent the day riding around the parking lot on their new favorite toy, a blue, banana seat bike. just like the ones we had as kids.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We are currently in Albuquerque, NM. We left the grand canyon and stopped in Gallp, NM and then onto Albuquerque. We decided it would be fun to drive on the Historic Route 66. It was definitely fun, until we realized we were no longer on route 66. Instead we were litterally in the middle of nowhere in an indian reservation on the absolute worst road in the US. I'm not sure it was really a road, more of a dirt trail. And since we were pulling a 35 ft. trailer, we couldn't exactlly turn around. But we made our way back to the interstate. I think the funniest thing was that on the road there was this very normal looking middle aged man walking his dogs. who knows how far he had walked 'cause there was nothing around for miles.
We're having lunch with Howie, David's uncle and his cousins out here. Barrett and Luke are excited to have some kids to play with. We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Grand Canyon

Our next stop is the Grand Canyon. We are staying in trailer village. that's the name of the campground in the park. it's a very strange place. there apparantly permanent residents here in trailer village b/c there's a school bus stop here.

four corners

After Arches we headed south to 4 corners. We were expecting it to be a big deal with lots of stuff to do and places to stay. So, we decided to drive at night while the boys were sleeping and just find somewhere to stay when we got there. Well, it turns out that 4 corners is in the middkle of nowhere with nothing around. So we ended up at a truck stop next to a casino. what you see in the pict. is all there is to it. the boys thought it was cool to all be in different states at the same time.

arches, utah

We spent a couple of days in Arches national park in Utah. It was so amazing to see the rock formations. the boys loved climbing on all the rocks. Barrett and Luke earned their jr. ranger badges again at arches. After arches we decided to head south to the grand canyon with a stop at four corners.

Our first broken bone goes to.........

So, apparently there's a reason why you shouldn't go down the slide standing up. Although it did display incredible balance, it also caused 2 fractures in Luke's hand. We spent the morning at an orthopedic dr. in Glenwood Springs today and had a cast put on. it is pretty cool though, it glows in the dark and is completely waterproof. He has to keep it on for about 4 weeks.
Of course, he really doesn't care, he does think it's pretty cool that now he doesn't have to use a baseball bat, he can just hit a ball with his cast.

Flint is 5 months old

My how time flies!! Flint is already 5 months old.
He is so much fun these days. he's started rolling over, sitting up, still spitting up, eating cereal, more spitting up. He has the cutest belly laugh. the boys can really get him laughing. And although he still sleeps about as good as a onw week old, i'd say he's a keeper.

Rocky Mountain National Park

The Garrigan's new home--- on wheels. We've made a slight upgrade from the Amerigo. If you thought we were crazy before--well, we've decided to make the new camper our home. We're not real sure what that's going to look like, but I think it will be quite the adventure.

Peter is giving Flint a little "peter love" and Flint seemed alittle scared to death. It seems like i'm constantly saying, "Peter, quit licking me!"

Barrett and Luke earned their Jr. Ranger Badges at the Rocky Mtn. National Park. They had to complete a booklet with animals, different spots in the park and they had to watch a movie about the national parks.

One Morning we had a few visitors at our campsite. There are elk everywhere at the park. Peter loved seeing the "baby elk". We also camped next to a retired man, Tom, who was at the park photographing the animals. He showed us the Holmes Comet which apparently hasn't been able to be seen in a long time. And he showed Barrett the milky way and some other stars. He also played the Indian flute. He had 5 or 6 different ones that he played for the boys. They loved hearing them. I think we could stay in the park for a long time.
We are now back near boulder for the weekend and then we will head to Glenwood Springs and then down towards Bryce and Zion.

Cache La Poudre

We went to a Halloween party last night. Waldo was not happy, but last night at bed time he would not take off the Waldo shirt.
Barrett is Deigo, Luke spider-man, and Flint -well, a horse on the head, but maybe a c ow body, maybe a palamino pony? who knows, but he doesn't care.

The New Belgium Brewery. Home of the Fat Tire!

Luke made his own edible necklace out of animal crackers
Camping in Poudre canyon. We went to a park one day where David fished, and the boys and I hiked, played in the field, and tried to stay away from the very aggresive squirrel that actually jumped into the stroller. Flint went on his first bike ride. Barrett hooked up the trailer to his bike and rode Flint and Peter around the park while we were there.

This the rec. center near Chad and Erynn's house, anyone can go and swim. The boys, including David had a blast. there was a lazy river, huge slides, and a great kid pool. We spent the day there last Sunday, when everyone had recovered from "the bug". The basement is going into full force today. I think it will take a couple of days and then we will head on to new places.
